Aditya Chopra, the famous film-maker, and Rani Mukherji, the acclaimed actress of the Hindi film industry, have finally tied the knot, after many years of speculation regarding the status quo of their relationship. But the talk is more than just about their marriage. The fact the small 'close friends and family' event occurred in Italy is making just as much news.

This is no gossip. The news has been confirmed by Yash Raj Films, that is now led by Aditya Chopra himself since the demise of his legendary father in 2012, Yash Chopra. Press Trust of India quoted from a statement released by YRF as- "We are happy to announce that Mr Aditya Chopra and Ms Rani Mukerji got married on 21 April in Italy. The wedding was a very small intimate affair with very close family and friends. We wish the couple a very happy married life."

The new bride, Rani Mukerji too expressed her elation by saying, "I would like to share the happiest day of my life with all my fans all over the world whose love and blessings have been part of my journey all these years. I know that all my well-wishers who have waited for this day will be really happy for me. It was a beautiful wedding in the Italian countryside with just a few of our close family and friends with us. The one person I missed terribly was Yash Uncle, but I know he was there with us in spirit and his love and blessings will always be with Adi and me. I have always believed in fairy-tales and with God’s grace my life has been exactly like one, and now as I enter the most important chapter of my life - the fairy-tale continues."

Aditya Chopra, 42, is known for his directorial contribution in all time hits like Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (1995), Mohabbatein (2000), and Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi (2008).  He has also written and produced several hits like  Veer-Zaara (2004), Hum Tum (2004), Bunty Aur Babli (2005), Fanaa (2006),  Band Baaja Baaraat (2010), Ek Tha Tiger (2012), Jab Tak Hai Jaan (2012), The Dhoom Trilogy (2004, 2006 & 2013), amongst many more.

Rani, 36, shot to fame with YRF production 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai' in 1998 and 'Aati Kya Khandala' song with Aamir Khan further helped in taking her career in an upward trend. She has been nominated for Filmfare award for almost every role she's ever done, winning for 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai' (1998), 'Saathiya'  (2002),  'Yuva' (2004), 'Hum Tum' (2004), 'Black' (2005) and 'No One Killed Jessica' (2011).

The now husband-wife duo have worked together in several movies like- 'Mujhse Dosti Karoge' (2002), 'Veer Zaara' (2004), 'Bunty Aur Bubli' (2005), 'Tara Rum Pam Pam' (2007), 'Toda Pyar Toda Magic' (2008), 'Dil Bole Hadippa' (2009), etc.

Rani being a very private person, has never talked openly about her relationship with Aditya Chopra, but if reports are to be believed, Rani and Aditya started dating around the same time that Aditya divorced his high school sweetheart wife, Payal Khanna, in 2009.

Being fans of Rani Mukherji, we all wish her nothing but happiness in life, and obviously, we wish the newly weds a very blissful wedded life. But here's the thing, harsh though it may sound- when your dream builds, as someone else's reality crumbles, no matter how much time passes by-you never really get to tell the tale of how you fell in love, because no matter how saccharine your love story is, it doesn't sound romantic if another's life was falling apart as you were falling in love.

But then, the times- they are a-changing. Seems like this is fast becoming the new normal- the modern love story.
