Do you want to Dance with Madhuri Dixit?

For those of us who grew up watching Madhuri Dixit dance, we remember all too clearly her danced-to-perfection steps- right from the song that made her Bollywood’s Dance Diva, namely, ‘Ek Do Teen’ (Tezaab -1988), to her dance performances towards the end of her stint as the reigning dance queen of the silver screen, namely, ‘Maar Dala’ (Devdas 2002). And if we ever got a chance, dancing with Madhuri Dixit would be a surreal experience. That which we wouldn’t imagine coming true. Well, if you ever were her fan, or forever are her fan, there’s good news for you.

At 47, the 1967 born actress has not quite hung up her dancing shoes. On the contrary, she’s actually all set to help give you an experience of a lifetime. That is, if you share her passion for dance. On Feb 25th, Madhuri launched her online dance academy called, ‘Dance with Madhuri’ (www.dancewithmadhuri.com), to provide a revolutionized way of learning to dance from Madhuri herself. She has started with two of her famous songs, but assures her fan on her facebook page that they would soon be building a library encompassing all dance styles and choreography including Indian Classical dance, Bollywood dance, Modern contemporary dance as well as Folk dance. She also promises to keep it fun through

exciting rewards, badges and more. You can also upload your own video on the site to get guidance from the experts. We hear that the response has been overwhelming. The site is best viewed on Google Chrome & Safari. It's really slow though and they're trying to work on improving it. So if you’re trying to dance with her, you may be facing some technical issues. To start with, it’s free. Eventually, there will be some minimal charge to cover cost and charity, says Madhuri. So while they take care of the technical difficulties, you might want to warm up and get ready. Good luck in trying to match steps with her.

You might also be interested in knowing the story behind the online school. Madhuri’s passion for dance and her need to make dance available to all led her husband, who actually worked in the software industry before taking up medicine, to lead the effort into making it a reality, thereby developing the website along with his team. The famous actress and her husband, Shriram Madhav Nene, a UCLA-trained cardiovascular surgeon who practiced in Denver, also own a production house called, RnM Moving Pictures (for Ram and Madhuri, dah!) And if you miss seeing Madhuri in movies, there’ news on that front too. She’s working on two movies, Gulaab Gang and Dedh Ishqiya, so watch out for those!

Well, what can we say, it's always good to see people pursue their passion and in the process make significant contribution towards revolutionizing the way things are done.

The Oscars 2013, the 85th Academy Awards

We're all watching the most glamorous evening in the world- an evening highlighted by splendid stars, gorgeous gowns, hilarious host and most importantly the Oscar itself- the ultimate recognition of all the hard work for the most magnificent men and women professionals in the entertainment industry!

This year’s Oscar is being held at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, California.

So far we saw some of the most glorious gowns worn. Our personal favorites were those donned by Jessica Chastain, Jennifer Lawrence ('Hunger Games' fame), Anne Hathaway and Zoe Saldana.

Seth MacFarlane is doing a good job of singing the hosting away! His jokes are hilarious and the song and dance sequences totally measure up to the glamour of the evening.

Our favorite performance was 'Skyfall' by Adele and that by the cast of 'Les Misérables’ (Hugh Jackman, Anne Hathaway and others)

Lovely to see the absolutely stunning First Lady of America, Michelle Obama in an equally stunning gown, make an apprearance through the video to announce the Best Picture.

So that was the Oscars 2013 for you.
Winners or not, every person ever nominated is nothing but a winner (not to say 'Cheers to the losers' song at the end was not funny, 'coz it really was).

Loved-

1. The bag choice of the 9-year-old Quvenzhané Wallis. That she chose to stay a kid.
2. The courage and simplicity of Helen Hunt in declaring that her gown was made by H & M. The first in the Academy Red Carpet History. You go Girl!
3. Anne Hattaway's lovely rose pink dress- don't care what others say- everyone doesn't have to be princess-y.

Good Night.

55th Grammy Awards Tonight!

First of all, all of the gorgeous gowns looked extra appealing tonight, thanks to the be-decent memo by CBS. Most of the lovely ladies that carried them chose to go with beautiful black.

Next, all of the performances were perfect- be it Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran, Justin Timberlake, Adam Levine, Rihanna, Alicia keys, Miranda Lambert, Bruno Mars, Carrie Underwood (& special effects on her dress- captivating), etc.

Lifetime Achievement Award went to Late Pandit Ravi Shankar and was accepted by his famous musician daughters, Anoushka Shankar and Norah Jones. It may be recalled that the Sitar Maestro passed away last year.

And the world famous & revered Ravi Shankar also won in the 'Best World Music Album' category for his 'The Living Room Sessions Part 1'. 'Traveller' by Anoushka Shankar was also a nominee in the same category.

Although Anoushka Shankar, a three-time Grammy nominee (2003 for 'Live at Carnegie Hall' and 2005 for 'Rise') and Arun Shenoy, a first-time nominee for his debut record, Rumbadoodle, did not win, we're sure there'll be many more opportunities for these two very talented artists. We want to congratulate them one more time for their journey thus far!
