1. The movie has been shot in Kashmir. To see the beautiful Nishat Bagh at the banks of Dal Lake in Srinagar, watch it. It has also been shot in Poland. To see the visually appealing shots of the Goetz Palace, Brzesko and Warsaw's traditional and contemporary art galleries- go watch it.

2. The movie stars the talented Aditya, Tabu and the captivating Katrina. Go watch it for them.

3. The songs are by Arijit Singh, Sunidhi Chauhan and Amit Trivedi. They're good, go check them out in the context of the movie.

Due to the Disney UTV involvement, be sure to check the close by AMC and Cinemark theaters before heading out- they're probably running the movie in big cities of USA.

1. The movie impresses with respect to the beautiful Kashmir Vadiyan (valley), the Shikara, the Kashmiri Phiran, every and all costumes, the art, the artists and the artistic, the classic cars, every prop visible to the eye- in general, the look and feel of the movie is par excellence giving you the experience of reading a novel whereby everything the author describes is coming to life right in front of your eyes.

2. Tabu, Aditya Roy Kapur and Katrina Kaif- all look good and have done their part in giving immense depth to the movie. Tabu's talent, Katrina's captivating beauty and Aditya's chiseled torso and quiet demeanor leaves an excellent impression about the movie.  At just 44, Tabu plays the role of mother to Katrina, but more importantly depicts a powerful character obsessed with her own obsession. Aditi Rao Hydari perfectly fits, although Ajay Devgan is wasted in this Pran-like avatar.

3. The plot of the movie based on Charles Dicken's "The Great Expectations" is certainly interesting and even though I haven't read the book, I can at least say that the movie gives a very novel experience.

1. I'll say it upfront- this movie is not for men and kids under 17 because of the extremely slow pace of the movie. However, it is that very slowness that provides the experience of literally reading the novel.

2. Kashmir setting + Tabu as a mother = Haider, except that this is Fitoor. Good though Tabu is, the movie leaves you wondering why would she accept this role when she has already aced a foreign novel's desi depiction set in Kashmir (Haider- William Shakespeare's Hamlet). That said, if you can bring yourself to not think of Haider, Tabu has achieved new heights in this film.

3. The movie appears to be a period film with its exquisite costumes and setting. But it is not. Aditya's character makes a reference to the three wars with Pakistan in 1965, 1972 and 1999, so its obviously post 1999. And the fact that insurgency is shown in Kashmir points to it too. Had the movie been set in 1940s, it would have obtained period film and classic stature!

New York Times: Based, sometimes loosely, sometimes carelessly, sometimes pointlessly, on “Great Expectations,” the Hindi movie “Fitoor” is at all times more Bollywood than Dickens. It’s left to Tabu to give the movie some emotional punch or any real connection to Dickens.

The Indian Express: Says the music is sporadically brilliant, calling the tunes -so familiar and yet so original.

Most others claim that Tabu stole the show even though Aditya and Katrina definitely impress.
