The British band, Coldplay, opened the Pepsi Super Bowl 50 Halftime Show on Sunday in San Francisco with "Viva La Vida," followed by "Paradise" and "Adventure of a Lifetime". While Chris Martin wore a casual white shirt, what first caught the attention of the Indian origin fans here in America, were the letters in Coldplay written in Hindi on the drums. Not just that, the theme seems to have been inspired by India as well, with bells, colorful flowers and other ethnic displays on the stage. After Beyonce and Bruno Mars did their piece, Coldplay performed "Clocks" and wrapped up with "Up & Up" as the words "believe in love" colorfully appeared over the Super Bowl 50 crowd- again, in multitude of colors much like the colors of India.

Now, it could be Coldplay's way of promoting his recently released single, "Hymm For The Weekend" which is shot in India and based on the all things Indian, including the colorful festival of India- Holi, but so what? It brings attention to all things beautiful and colorful that is woven into the radiant fabric that is culturally India. To those who tweeted out mean comments to Coldplay, we say, you're entitled to your opinion- just as we are to ours. A white British band, showing a black American singer against ethnic Indian backdrop among brown people with vibrant colors reflecting the festival and flowers of the land- well, what can be more creative than that. Superbowl fans, accept something different!

And btw, Beyonce' looks stunning in the video above and so does Sonam Kapoor who is briefly featured.
